BBFORPEACE HOST AFRICA REGIONAL LEADERS OF UNOY PEACEBUILDERS IN NIGERIA

During the week of November 8th-13th  2021, Building Blocks for Peace Foundation was privileged to have hosted the Regional Leaders of the United Network of Young Peacebuilders in Africa. The delegation included, the ISG Representative from West and Central Africa, the Regional Coordinator of the East and Southern Africa and the ISG Representative of East and Southern Africa. The network young leaders came from Cameroon, Burundi, Zimbabwe respectively to attend the Annual Strategic Meeting of UNOY Peacebuilders in Abuja, Nigeria.

Annually, regional leaders of UNOY meets to brainstorm on the next strategic development of the network including membership, annual plans and governance structure. Other leaders of the network outside of Africa gathered in Asia and Europe for the same purpose.

Building Blocks for Peace Foundation currently hosts the regional coordination structure of UNOY Peacebuilders in West and Central Africa with her Executive Director acting as the Regional Coordinator of the network in West and Central Africa.

As part of their visit, the leaders also visited also peace and security partners in Abuja including the office of the United Nations Development Programme-Nigeria, the GivTree Foundation and the West African Civil Society Forum among others.

The meeting came to an end on the 13th November as the youth activist departed to their various destinations.
